How many coats of primer do I need on wood?
Okay I got the ‘Great Idea’ to turn our coffee table into a white board bc I found the stuff to do it at Home Depot. Our table is a dark wood, so I sanded it and put on a couple of coats of primer. But many do I need to put on? Should it be pure white or is it okay that the wood still shows through?
On a side note anyone know how to get Latex Primer off of a wedding ring?
If you are going to coat over the primer with the stuff from Home Depot then your two coats should be fine. Hopefully you used an alkyd (oil based) primer since your coffee table was probably coated with a varnish of lacquer. If the latex primer on your wedding ring is what you used the sanding will definitely help with adhesion and should also be fine at this point.
As far as your wedding ring, just drop it into a cup of rubbing alcohol and let it sit for a minute…the latex primer should start lifting and you can finish it off with an old tooth brush.
