Is it rude to bring coffee to a job interview?
I am a coffee drinker, I use it to function in the morning. Ha ha. I have a couple job interviews, tomorrow and Monday morning. Is it rude to bring a travel mug of coffee with, or a Coffee From a Coffee Shop? I have done this before in my interviews with recruiters/headhunters/staffing agencies….but these couple of interviews I have coming up are through direct companies and I was hesitant. I find it could be a good way to occupy my hands, if nothing else, right? LOL
Opinions?
It really depends on the company. I’ve taken my own coffee to interviews and was offered a job the next day.
However, unless you are sure it’s okay (like if it’s a second interview). Gulp as much as possible, leave the tumbler in your car, pop some breath mints. And with any luck the receptionist will offer you coffee or water when you get in there.
By the way, I honestly don’t care if people bring their own coffee. Early morning interviews mean that half the people you meet with will also have a to-go starbucks on their desk.
